About the Event
Georgia is one of the birthplaces of wine culture and wild vines. Archaeologists have found evidence and artefacts including eight thousand year old grape seeds and antique vessels, along with written works.
The methods of Georgian winemaking have remained the same for thousands of years. Clay vessels, lined with beeswax, are buried in the cellar or in the earth, where the fermentation takes place, extracting colour and tannin from the grape skins.
The wines of Georgia have evolved from just the traditional intensely amber wines, to more pure expressions of their local grapes, while still retaining their wine making roots. Georgia is home to over 500 different grape varieties, of which around 30 are in common production with more coming on stream all the time from the State Nursery. These grapes produce flavours unlike any others.
These wines exist not to flatter the so-called modern palate; they are intended to capture the blood of the soil, the song of the earth; and represent the natural cycle of taking out and putting back.
Now onto the wines!
I don't usually tell you the wine, but this time I am. Georgian wines aren't all that common place, so I thought it would be good for you to know what we will be tasting, in case there is any fear.

- Iago Chinuri Skin Contact (orange)
- Igavi Aladasturi Rose (rose)
